Job Type: Full time
The Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) is a private foundation created on 11 July 2003 with the objective of becoming a world-renowned centre for nanoscience and nanotechnology research. It is part of CERCA, the network of Research Centres launched by the Catalan Government as a cornerstone of its long-term strategy to foster development of a knowledge-based economy. ICN2's research lines focus on the newly discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the fascinating behaviour of matter at the nanoscale.
We seek a PhD student to be employed at ICN2 to carry out research within the ICN2 Nanofabrication Division and the Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures Group (http://www.icn.cat/~p2n/
). The PhD student will be working on the experimental development of novel nanofabrication methods with the aim to realize functional surfaces and devices in a variety of materials and substrates. Formal registration as graduate student will be with the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona with a thesis focused on the design and development of novel nano manufacturing process with serious potential to be adopted by industry and will be highly interdisciplinary, involving areas ranging from Nanotechnology, Photonics to material science.
The candidate should have a BSc. and a Master’s degree in Physics, Material Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant studies.
